Ka Lima O Maui Paper Shredding Services

Mahalo Bendon Foundation & HEICF!

January 2025

The Ka Lima O Maui Secure Shredding Department achieved a major milestone in 2025, having shredded nearly 250,000 pounds of documents. The department originated in 2022 with a start-up grant from The Bendon Foundation. Funds were used to develop the business plan and build the initial infrastructure.

The Hawaiian Electric Industries Charitable Foundation (HEICF) awarded Ka Lima O Maui a game-changing grant to expand this department in 2023. With funds from the HEICF, Ka Lima was able to purchase high-volume commercial shredding machines, upgrade infrastructure, purchase secure bins for the new service offering, and launch a marketing campaign. We were able to double our services over the course of a year as a result!

To date, the Ka Lima O Maui shredding department has created six new jobs for adults with disabilities and commercial accounts all over the island. We are incredibly grateful to the Bendon Foundation and to the HEICF for their funding and support in our efforts to provide opportunities for adults with disabilities to thrive and achieve independence. Without their support, we would not have been able to accomplish this amazing milestone!
